Routsong Funeral Home - Kettering Chapel

On first thought, the fact that we are family-owned may not mean much to you. But consider this: Because we have lived here for so long, there is a very good chance that during your time of greatest need, you will be assisted by someone you consider a friend. And, because we are local, you are assured someone from our family will be available to assist you, regardless of the time you call. Like you, we all live here, so we are constantly giving back to the community.

Sometimes a tragedy can change the entire pattern of a man's life. That happened during the Dayton flood of 1913 to Carl T. Routsong, then a rural mailman. He stood at a window in the main post office and watched as the floodwaters washed away his horse and buggy. Without them, Carl could not keep his mail route. Fortunately, his brother-in-law, George Bradford, who had recently started Bradford and Gustin Funeral Home, was in need of extra help. In 1918, when Mr. Gustin retired, Carl entered into a partnership with George Bradford and the firm was founded. Reorganization in 1952 marked the beginning of Routsong Funeral Home and the rest is history!

Death care businesses have traditionally been transferred to successive generations and ours is no exception. Today we are at our third generation of running Routsong Funeral Home and we look forward to a future of continued succession.

In 1918, with the partnership of Bradford and Routsong, the firm was formed. Following a reorganization in 1952, Routsong Funeral Homes has grown to our present size through adherence to our principles, which are to present the options available to families, and to faithfully fulfill their wishes with conscientious service.

Carl T. Routsong was the founder of Routsong Funeral Home. His son, Thomas H. Routsong, joined the firm in 1952, followed by his son, Thomas A. Routsong, in 1979. Mrs. Thomas H. (Martha) Routsong joined the three-generation family-run business when she received her funeral director's license in 1979.

The Routsong Funeral Homes, family and staff, are members of the National Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Funeral Directors Association, Montgomery County Funeral Directors Association and the Federated Funeral Directors of America. All these organizations are pledged to serve the public in accordance with prescribed ethical standards.

We are a caring Christian family, and our desire is to continue serving Dayton area families, in their time of need, as we have for over 80 years.
