Wheeler, Agnes Therese, age 74, passed away peacefully in the company of family on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Agnes was born March 4, 1943 to Michael and Lucille Hempfling. She grew up on her family farm in Delphos, OH and graduated from Saint John’s High School. She earned her degree in nursing from St. Rita’s Hospital Lima, completed her bachelor’s degree, and was certified in psychiatric nursing. Agnes served as a nurse for 50 years and retired after 42 years from Kettering Hospital as a Behavioral Medicine Nurse Manager. She was awarded the KMH Network Star and Employee of the Month. Agnes was loving, much loved, and grateful. She volunteered many hours at the Reach Out Clinic and at Good Neighbor House. She prepared meals for the homeless for St. Vincent de Paul. In 2015 Agnes provided services on a mission trip to Haiti. She was an active member for many years of Incarnation Parish and the Cursillo. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter Mary Ellen; brothers-in-law, Roger Wanamaker and Michael Kahle. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years Tom Wheeler; two sons, John (Holly) and Chris (Kristen) Wheeler; granddaughters, Hannah, Abigail, and Sara; brothers, Tom (Joanne) and Michael Hempfling; sisters, Sister Michaelyn, SND, Ann Wanamaker, Mary Kahle, Helen (Arnie) Fisher; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Agnes’s family will receive friends 5-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25 at the Centerville Routsong Funeral Home 81 N. Main St., Centerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends may make contributions to Reach Out of Montgomery County, 25 Foraker St., Dayton 45409 or Good Neighbor House 627 E. First St., Dayton 45402.
