OLFKY, Raymond Edward, age 70, passed away on 12 August 2017. Ray was born October 12, 1946, to Anthony and Margaret Olfky in Rochester, NY. He graduated from Notre Dame High School, Trenton, NJ in 1964. He received his BA in Economics from Villanova University in 1968 and his MS in Management Science from University of Dayton on 1979. From 1968 until he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1998, Ray worked in program management and logistics for the Air Force Reserves at W.P.A.F.B. He was in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1968 - 1979, and retired from Civil Service in 2002. Ray enjoyed being Adjunct Professor at Sinclair Community College for Supply Chain Management, and Adjunct Professor at University of Dayton’s Department of Health and Sport Science. Ray also found time to be a part of the Dayton Athletic Association, Logistics Officers Association, Dayton International Peace Museum, Knights of Columbus Council 10215, and the UD Flyers Club. He was a member of the Dayton Distance Running Hall of Fame and the Senior Olympics Hall of Fame. Ray enjoyed social groups and was a fond member at Athletes Unknown, Bier River Runners, Ohio River Road Runners Club, A-Team, Team RWB-Dayton, Dayton Dragons Retirement Village People. Ray was also an avid Villanova and University of Dayton fan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ray is survived by his wife Betty; sister, Cathey (James Begley) Schuler of WA., brother, James Olfky of MO; 5 children Kristen Olfky, Derek Olfky, James (Kelly) Hansen, Jill (Steve) Neargarder, and Jodie Daniel: 8 grandchildren, Victoria Harris, Marquel Harris, Tony Huber, Brystal Daniel, Sarah Daniel, Jesse Lykins, Reed Neargarder, and Colton Neargarder; and 2 great-grandchildren, Tyler Clark, and Audrey Harris. Special thanks to all of his friends in the running, logistics, and golfing worlds. Family will greet friends on 17 Aug. 2017 from 4-7:00pm at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 North Main St. Centerville, OH 45459. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm Friday, August 18, at St. Leonard Church, 8100 Clyo Rd. Centerville, OH 45458 (There will also be a visitation one hour prior at the Church for the residents of St. Leonard.) Donations of remembrance may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420, or The American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45206.
